Erie Canalway Grants Availiable

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor is accepting applications through Friday, October 25, 2013 for 2013-2014 Erie Canalway Grants. Grants ranging from $2,000 to $7,000 will be awarded for projects that serve to advance the goals of the Erie Canalway Preservation and Management Plan.

Erie Canalway has awarded more than $285,000 in grants to date to help communities and organizations preserve and share New York’s canal heritage and attract residents and visitors to the waterfront.

“These grants transform good ideas into reality,” said Erie Canalway Executive Director Beth Sciumeca. “The grants enable us to reach new audiences and inspire people to learn more and further explore the Erie Canalway Corridor.”

Proposals related to historic preservation, conservation, recreation, interpretation, tourism, and community development will be considered. Awards must be matched dollar for dollar.

Eligible organizations include nonprofits, municipalities, and federally recognized Indian Tribes; projects must be based within the boundaries of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor.

The Erie Canalway Grant Program is administered by the Erie Canalway Heritage Fund, in partnership with the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission.
